7 Tips how to start your morning happy

How To Start Your Morning Better

Monday mornings are the hardest! Everyone knows this feeling of waking up, a bit grumpy, and with no energy to have a great morning and a successful day! You don’t become a morning person over night – it’s hard training.

I became one! – and if I can do it, you can do it too!

Starting your mornings positive is the key to a productive and happy day. It doesn’t take a lot to make your mornings more pleasant and create a nice wake-up-environment, so you have a great start of the day. I listed 10 tips for you, how you start your morning happy and actually become a morning person. It is not easy to change habits. Habits you might are used to for a very long time. But once you start changing your routine, you will see, it is easier than you thought and has a great impact on your overall happiness. You might even start to like mornings! I personally do love them now, I think it’s an amazing opportunity to start over and forget about a bad day you may have had the day before.

My breakfast routine helped me a lot to become a morning-lover. I love to wake up early (sun shining in my face) and take time to make some pretty, delicious and healthy breakfast while sipping on my huge cup of green tea. This little moment is so peaceful and full of energy. While eating my oatmeal, I’m thinking about my to-do list for the day. What I’m going to do first and to what I’m looking forward to. After I finished my cup of tea, I take a hot shower which improves my bloodstream and blows away my sleepiness. After drying my hair and doing my everyday-beauty routine I’m starting my day. Those little steps are almost the same every morning. It is a good to have a routine. The sleepy-mornings don’t have power over me anymore – I control my mornings! After those little moments of peace it is time to start a new, adventurous day!

1. Create a routine – get up every morning at the same time

Take care of regularity. Your body needs routine, so he can manage your energy for the day. Who gets up in a hurry and stresses to get out of the house in time, will struggle with a overdose of stress hormones the whole day. This leads to fatigue and mood swings.

2. Don’t press “Snooze”

The longer you delay getting up, the more tired you will get. You should always get up with the first ring of the alarm.

3. Start your day with your personal morning-ritual

It is easier for your circadian rhythm to get used to new time schedule if you connect it with rituals. Might that be the way to the mail box and reading the newspaper afterwards or Yoga exercises. It is totally up to you what you make your personal morning-ritual. Mine is my breakfast. I take my time to prepare a beautiful bowl of oatmeal with a lot of fruits and enjoy a cup of green tea.

4. Start your day with positive thoughts

The thoughts we start our day with have a big impact on our general mood of the day. It is very important to start your morning with positive thoughts, so you will have positive charisma the whole day and take life easier.

5. Healthy breakfast

Breakfast like a king – there is actually a meaning to it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That’s why you should put a lot of thought into it and make yourself a healthy, delicious and rich in nutrients breaky. It is very important to feed your body with complex carbs in the morning, so he can deliver energy for a long time. There are so many great breakfast-inspirations, vary your meals and enjoy them! A great alternative to a croissant would be oatmeal (here you can find some recipes), or sweet potato brownies, those are just perfect for a good breakfast. Or go green – get your blender and make yourself a delicious green smoothy! That’s the perfect energy booster. Fact is, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and has great impact on the following meals of the day. If you start with a nutrient-poor breaky, it is very likely that lunch and dinner will not be healthy either, which leads to fatigue and compromises your immun system.

6. Drink water!

Start your day with a cup of water! After 6-8 hours of sleep, your body is dehydrated. That’s why you should drink at least 500ml of water. It will help your brain start the day with high performance. Who does not like to drink so much water on an empty stomach can spice it up by putting some fresh lime juice, ginger or mint. Tipp: use a straw – much easier and faster to drink!

7. Work-out!

I know it is hard, but try to do some exercise after waking up. It will increase your daily performance tremendously. It is not about training and shaping your body, but to get your body working, to start your cardio system and free some serotonin. There are several case studies, that proof that you will feel the improvement of a daily morning exercise already after 5 days! (Find my workout motivation tips here)

A positive start in the day is the alpha and omega!

Thanks for this post, I really like it. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I try to make it a bit special every day. I’ve also started drinking hot lemon water each morning and it gives such a great push of energy!
